If God be for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31
Life in Christ Matters!
Everyone, everywhere must understand the concept of evil as being opposed to goodness and righteousness. Evil originates from an enemy existence that opposes a life in Christ. Anything or anyone that opposes a life in Christ is "anti" Christ. As the Word is God, evil is anti-God, "anti-Word", and the target of God's wrath whenever He chooses to deliver it. A life in Christ matters because we are set free from evil and avoid His wrath in the end.
The source of evil is the enemy of God, whereas the messengers of evil (i.e., the evil-doers) are taken captive by the evil source. Evil is the root cause of all harm, and evil takes on many forms. For example, are software viruses intended to harm people by stealing their property as bad as the Covid-19 virus? Is an inaccurate book that leads people astray from God's Word also an evil? Those who change (i.e., corrupt) the Word of God for money, even slightly, are they a source of evil?
How can we forgive those that do evil things? Simple, the concept of evil is associated with a transgression of God's will and sin. Any and all transgressions of His will are contrary to a life in Christ. God does not see one transgression or sin as any worse than any other, because all of them are bad. In addition, we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, thereby rendering each of us a messenger of evil in our time. As a means of reconciliation with Him, He offers grace and truth by and through the Word He sent to us for eternal sustenance and freedom from evil.
God is quite aware of the evil perpetrated in the name of mankind at the direction of evil as a master. God's Word speaks of it plainly in many instances. In fact, the Word tells us to avoid people who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the love of God. Practicing this avoidance is a form of safe haven for all who choose a life in Christ. In doing so, we find safety in God to sustain us as we continue to live in opposition to evil and find jubilation in knowing He will destroy evil with the wrath He withholds now.
A Life in Christ matters because the Word is the only way to the reconciliation with God the Father. The Word IS the door to heaven and the power of the Spirit for the believer and faithful. As Jesus lived comforting and edifying all people with His Word, we rejoice in it and warn the unruly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, and be patient with everyone. We must not render evil for evil and only follow that which is good for everybody. We cannot do it on our own, nobody can.
